As I'm in the middle of Finals week, and feeling good about just finishing up my 2nd to last final, I splurged and decided to waste time on StumbleUpon again! Came across this one which I think I've seen in the past.. but I'm bringing about because it is so so so so so so true.
What Girls Need to Realize:
We guys don't care if you talk to other guys.
We don't care if you're friends with other guys.
But when you're sitting next to us, and some random guy walks into the room and you jump up and tackle him, without even introducing us, yeah, it pisses us off ......
It doesn't help if you sit there and talk to him for ten minutes without even acknowledging the fact that we're still there
We don't care if a guy calls or texts you
but at 2 in the morning we do get a ... little ... ... concerned.
Nothing is that important at 2 am
That it can't wait till the morning.
Also, when we tell you you're pretty/beautiful/gorgeous/
cute/stunning, we freaking mean it.
Don't tell us we're wrong.
We'll stop trying to convince you
The sexiest thing about a girl is confidence.
Yeah, you can quote me.
Don't be mad when we hold the door open
Take Advantage of the mood im in.
Let us pay for you!
don’t "feel bad"
We enjoy doing it.
It's expected.
Smile and say "thank you”.
Kiss us when no one's watching.
If you kiss us when you know somebody's
looking, we'll be more impressed.
You don't have to get dressed up for us
If we're going out with you in the first place, you don't have to feel the need to
wear the shortest skirt you have or put on every kind of makeup you own. We like you for who you are and not what you are.
It seems that we make mistakes...
I guess that was an attempt at not looking shallow.
Haha... yeah we make mistakes.
Honestly think a girl looks more beautiful when she's just in her pj's.
or my t-shirt and boxers, not all dolled up.
Don't take everything we say seriously.
Sarcasm is a beautiful thing. See the beauty in it.
Don't get angry easily.
Stop using magazines/media as your bible.
Don't talk about how hot Chris Brown,
Brad Pitt,or Jesse McCartney is in front of us or any other guy is
It's boring, and we don't care. You have girlfriends for that.
and it pisses us off
Whatever happened to the word "handsome"/"beautiful"
i'd be utterly stunned by a girl who greeted me
with "Hey handsome!"instead of "Hey baby/stud/cutie/sexy"or whatever else you can think of.
On the other hand im not sayin i woulndnt like it ether ; )
Girls, I cannot stress this enough:if you aren't being treated right by a guy, dont wait for him to change!!!!!
Ditch his sorry ass, disgrace to the male population
and find someone who will treat you with utter respect
Someone who will honor your morals
Someone who will make you smile when you're at your lowest.
Someone who will care for you even when you make mistakes.
Someone who will love you, no matter how bad you make them feel.
Someone who will stop what they're doing just to look you in the eyes.... and say "i love you", and actually mean it.
Give the nice guys a chance.
Guys repost this if you agree
Girls repost this if you think it's cute.
Every Guy who isn't a jerk will agree with this. so we hope that all the girls that read this will repost this.

Stumbled Upon...
I was moseying about StumbleUpon earlier today and found this! Had to share. Though I wish I knew how to find the source to give them credit.
1.Never stop thinking. This is important. If someone ever says to you ‘You need to stop thinking so much,’ call them ignorant in your head and keep thinking deeper. It is this mentality that breeds stupidity and sheeple. Your mind is the most important tool you have, if you stop using it, it will atrophy. Question everything.
2. Stare into space blankly and don’t mentally punish yourself for doing it, even if it is for that split second. If you have a problem with staring blankly, think of it as daydreaming.
3. Root Beer sucks after having spicy food.
4. Everything is going to be just fine. If you worry about acne, you’re going to get a fucking pimple.
5. Don’t be afraid to talk about anything. You shouldn’t be afraid of reality.
6. Everyone is a hypocrite.
7. You are all original. Every life experience is case sensitive and unique. Every time you wake up or go to the bathroom or quote someone else, you are becoming more you than anyone has ever been.
8. Do pointless things. Don’t actively restrain or hide yourself from the redundant.
9. Stop rushing. Shut up and embrace the sound of silence.
10. Religion shouldn’t be taught, it should be found. No one should tell you what to believe except you. And while were on the subject…
11. Don’t be restrained by one religion. People change every moment of everyday. Minds grow and evolve. Religion has no law so feel free to mix and match. Make your own.
12. Going to the bathroom is not a right nor a privilege. it’s an act of nature.
13. Talking to yourself is healthy. Is there anyone that you have more in common with?
14. There is no such thing as time. The sun never sets or rises. Days and years don’t exist. There is only your life. Earlier today you were born and death is predicted later in the evening.
15. We will always be in a transitional phase. Look outside and know that everything will be replaced at some point. This existence is temporary.
16. Its not half empty or half full. Its half a glass.
17. Every now and then take something that you see everyday and try to see it in a different light. Renew its existence.
18. Be happy, but don’t force it.
19. You will always succeed in trying.
20. We are all crazy. Every person you read about in the history books had some kind of ‘disorder’, they just knew how to use it.
21. We are all about as similar as we are different.
22. Ideas are just as valuable as people. Why do you think we keep making people?
87. Numbers don’t have to go in order.
24. Words will always be just words. Love is just another four letter word, only the feeling is real.
25. Ask a child for advice. They may not know much, but they know what is important.
26. Prove you’re alive. Do anything from dancing in the supermarket to screaming ‘Fuck’ during a moment of silence. Remind the world you are still here.
27. Don’t take anything, even this, too seriously.
A few rules.

Day Thirty
A picture of someone you miss:
My cousin Nigel Olsen! Sadly Nigel was killed in action in Afghanistan on March 4th, 2010. One of the great shocks of my life, but I admire Nigel for serving our Country and for pursuing the life that he always wanted to live. As far as I can remember back in my life, I knew Nige (his nickname!) always wanted to serve our Country, and knew that is what he was passionate about. He's probably one of the few in the world where those left to remember him can say without a single doubt that He died living his dream. RIP Nigel Olsen.

Day Twenty-Eight
A picture of something you are afraid of:
A picture of something you are afraid of:
Achilles tendon injuries! I chose a picture of a ruptured tendon, but any kind of injury scares me. The achilles feels like the most vunerable spot to me! To add to that, after taking some EMT classes and understanding what happens if that tendon is cut, it's easily one of the biggest things I'm afraid of.

Day Twenty-Seven
A picture of you and a family member:
Uhhhhh what did I say in my last post about this getting repetitive? I've already had like 4 photos of my family on here... Anyways, here is a family member who unfortunately is no longer with us.
Yeaaaaah photo doesn't look the best, I was trying a new scanner/upload from my Tablet and it apparently doesn't like the colors on the photos. But either way it works! There is Bunny (aka Frodo) a recently deceased member of our family. At least, I considered him to be!
Here is another photo of that awesome rabbit doing a cool trick:
Hahah awesome! Now you might ask why him going up on two feet to get a treat is a trick, but it was sound-activated! (Pavlov's Bells anyone?). He would also give kisses and was all-around just an awesome animal. Also, for those of you who might be wondering how a rabbit got so fat, he's just big-boned (true story). He was a French Lop breed which get massive!
Having owned two rabbits before him (a Holland Lop and a random mix of something) I was amazed when I first picked him up at 6 weeks old. The breeder brought him out and put him on a table, and I thought she had brought out the mother of the "baby" I was here to pick up. At 6 weeks he was bigger than my previous rabbits had ever gotten in their life. At full size, he was around 3' long (yes that's feet) and I want to say weighed somewhere between 12-16lbs. It's hard to weigh a bunny.
Unfortunately he died not too long ago of old-age. But, he was still one of the coolest rabbits ever.

4 more...
Day Twenty-Six
A picture of something that means a lot you:
I feel like this post is repetitive? Feels like I've answered this question in one way or another 4 times already...
Journals. Trying to avoid being repetitive myself (unlike this challenge) I decided to put this down because it actually does mean lot to me to write in a journal. It's refreshing, helps me clear my head and get thoughts out of my head onto paper. One of the greatest teachers I've ever had once said writing was a spiritual journey and process, and I couldn't agree more.

Day Twenty-Five
A picture of your day:
Most of my day revolves around the University of Utah. Whether it's being in class, doing the homework, or some last-minute cramming for a test! I absolutely love it up there, and am glad I chose to attend this college.

Day Twenty-Four
A picture of something you wish you could change:
Instead of branding someone to show they are different from yourself, or choosing to be intolerant of their beliefs, why not accept them for who they are, accept their beliefs are different than yours, and continue on with your life. The term "agree to disagree" fits right here. Chances are some of the most wonderful people you will meet in your life don't have the beliefs as you. That shouldn't matter, as long as the person is trying to do good.
A picture of something you wish you could change:
Intolerance. There are waaaay too many people in our world today who persecute, mock and put others down because they don't believe the same thing. It would be amazing if this could be changed. I'm sure most, if not all of us in one way or another have been intolerant recently. Here is a good quote from the book Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge that I feel shows how we manifest our intolerance of others:
"Guilt by association is an easy trump card in public life. If you can label your opponent as Right Wing or Liberal, Fundamentalist or Charismatic, you don't even have to argue your case. Your fellow partisans will dismiss the culprit with righteous indignation. Branding someone prevents them from ever being able to prove they are innocent, state their case. It's a cheap and effective ploy that's been around a long time, a particular favorite of the religious. Tar and feather 'em."

Getting Close
Day Twenty-Two
A picture (video) of something you wish you were better at:
Dancing! I've never been much of a dancer, probably because I've never really tried/learned how, but I would love to be better at it. Not necessarily the same style of dance as the video, but just dancing in general. That video is ridiculous on a side note...

Day Twenty-One
A picture of something you wish you could forget:
Nothing! After thinking long and hard about this one, I realized there is nothing that I wish I could forget. All of my experiences, both good and bad have shaped my life into what it is today. If I could go back in time and change some decisions, I would in a heartbeat. But I can't, and I love where I am now, so I wouldn't change a thing.

Random Songs
I've been thinking a lot about music recently (especially Spiritual music) and the impact that it has on my life. If someone had asked me 5 years ago about my favorite artists/music, I probably would've spat something out about "actual music/mainstream/blah blah blah".
I was somewhat rebellious when it came to liking certain artists, just because of their popularity/or who I knew liked them. I was probably like most high-schoolers.
Anyways, here are 3 songs that I have been listening a lot to recently. They have inspired me.
Vocal Point - Nearer My God To Thee (Probably more well-known in Utah)
Michael W. Smith - One More Time
I love this song.
Michael W. Smith - Rise
This is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard.
I hope you find these songs to be inspirational! Whether or not you like them, ask yourself "What does my music say about me? Do for me? Why am I listening to what I am?" And I'm not saying this in a religious This-music-is-better-than-yours way, but as a reflection question.
Caught up!
Day Twenty
A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel:
Barbados!!!!!!!!!! I want to visit this wonderful country (or live there..) sooo bad! Why would I be so obsessed with this random island in the middle of the ocean? First: Look at that photo. Absolutely gorgeous.
Some other reasons you might ask?:

Oh my... |
Some other reasons you might ask?:
- Average daytime high of 75 - 85 F
- Barbadians complain that the sea is cold when its 78oF
- Hurricanes usually avoid Barbados
- Sea Island Cotton
- Beaches with white sand
- Beautiful, beautiful landscape
Almost there...
Day Nineteen
A picture of you when you were little:
I'll just go ahead and say it now, I was probably the cutest baby ever. Just kidding, but seriously, I was a cute baby.
This picture probably gives the reason why I have always loved hiking. Already out there before I was even able to do it by myself! Also, check out that old-school Dad photo. Awesome.

Day Eighteen
(You might have noticed there are 4 posts today... Oops!)
A picture of your biggest insecurity:
In writing this post, I was trying to decide how honest to be. Annnnnd I decided to be honest. My biggest insecurity has always been with my chest (peck muscles). This isn't nearly as "big-of-a-thing" to me as it was a few years ago, but in one way or another this is definitely it.
Honest? Check.

Day Seventeen
A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently:
Anxiety - easily something that has made a huuuuge impact on my life recently! Until not too long ago(it's getting closer to a year now) I had never experienced anxiety in a large way.
Now, everyone experiences anxiety. Before a game, a concert, audition, test, etc etc etc. We all deal with that.
Major anxiety though is a game-changer! Something I honestly don't believe you can understand to the fullest, unless you have experienced it yourself.
The monkey is my visual-aid in seeing my own anxiety, and putting that in something other than myself... if that makes sense..

Day Sixteen
A picture of someone(s) who inspires you:
When it comes to this post, I've been thinking long and hard, who inspires me? My family came to mind, many friends, people I know, different artists, tons and tons of people came to mind! I was having a hard time choosing, so I asked myself, who inspires me on a day-to-day basis AND who hasn't really been listed on my blog already?
The Answer -
The guys I know from the Warrior Heart Community. Especially the guys involved in the Band of Brothers that meets frequently. Once again, I'm going to put off writing a lot about Warrior Heart, but these men that I have been fortunate enough to know and to have in my life are inspiring to me everyday. I look up to them, I look to them for help, and I love being a part of this group. They make me want to be better myself, and to draw closer to God everyday.

Day Fifteen
A picture (video for this one!) of something you want to do before you die:
Wingsuit! I would suggest watching this video on youtube itself, just for a better viewing experience.
I can't even imagine doing this... but I want to so bad! What would it be like to jump off of a cliff, knowing that you are about to trust your life in spreading your arms and trying to fly?! Must be done...

Day Thirteen
A picture of your favorite band:
Apocalyptica! I have been of fan of these guys for years now. I'm not a mega-huge super fan over most of their newer stuff (last 2 albums or so) since it's gotten a little too "metal" or "hard-rock" or whatever you would like to call it, but nonetheless still a huge fan. The ability and technical skills that these guys have on the cello is just jaw-dropping. I love a lot of their Metallica covers (Nothing Else Matters, Fade to Black) as well as most of their songs. Seen em a few times in concert, including a private (10 people or so) acoustic show in Vegas. That was tremendous!
On kinda the other side of the spectrum, one of my newer favorite bands would be the likes of John Waller and/or Michael W. Smith.
Both of these guys create amazing Christian music, and while there are tons of different artists/bands who do Christian music, I have always felt these two artists to be genuine in the songs that they create/put in their albums. I've fallen in love with many of their different songs.

A picture of something you hate:
Bad Drivers!!!!!! I get so frustrated with people who don't know how to drive. Whether it's not paying attention, not caring, or anything of the sort, it just hits the wrong nerve... Can we please make 90% of drivers go back to drivers ed?

A picture that makes you laugh:
Yeaaaah, this isn't a photo of anyone I know, or of myself, but it really makes me laugh. I guess I can connect it to myself in that my Dad sent me the collection of these... If I knew the source I'd link it!

The ring has a custom inscription "Audaces Fortuna Iuvat" which roughly means "Fortune Favors the Bold" in English. Might help explain why I named my blog Audaces..... Also has some other meaning I won't write about.
But either way both of these items take the cake, because of what they represent!

Day Six
A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day:
This post comes at a perfect timing with Winter in the air and snow already in the mountains! Now,for this photo (and video, lucky lucky day!) I would love love love to trade with this person, but only if I get to have the same skills as him!
The one and only Simon Dumont:
I cannot even imagine what it would be like to get as much air/do the tricks that Simon does in the half-pipe. I would absolutely love to trade for a day...

Easily one of my favorite memories was kayaking the Provo River with two of my best friends, Andre and Jon. Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures from the trip, but it was one of the most memorable adventures ever! We were waaaay in over our heads, both figuratively and literally..

Day Four
A picture of your favorite night:
(Seriously? How am I suppose to choose a favorite night, let alone have a picture of it?????)
Hmmmmmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmm.....
I honestly can't think of a specific night that I would consider my favorite, but I have loved nights that involves hanging out under the stars.

Day Three
A picture of the cast of your favorite show:
Hmmmm, this is a really, really tough choice...
I've loved so many different shows over the years..
How to choose?
It has to be a tie between
The Simpsons, I show I have enjoyed for years and years. Classic.
The other show?
Easily one of the funniest shows I've ever seen! Unfortunately it was canceled after 2 seasons, and I'm still furious they canceled this show! It is HILARIOUS and if you haven't seen it, go watch it now.
However:
There are so many other good shows I have loved. Scrubs, Modern Family, Community, Parks and Rec., Battle Star Galactica, Arrested Development, SNL and more more more!

Round Two
Day Two - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest:
Elliot Black. Not only have I known this kid for my entire life, he's been one of my best friends, while also being my cousin.... Crazy how that works. It's safe to say that we could be twins.

Finally...
Finally figured out this whole blog mess! Use to have a blog, deleted it, started a new one, couldn't figure it out, still trying to delete it, started this one, hope it actually works!
I am Ethan. Since I lack any idea of how to write a blog, I'm starting with that "30 day photo thing" you see on so many blogs. Yeah, I'm pretty original. So.... here we go.
30 Photos:
Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure I can find 30 photos without some effort... Eff.
Day One - a picture of you with 15 facts:
1. I love the outdoors and the snow
2. I would rather drink than eat
3. 5'10"
4. I have a 5.1 surround sound system in my room, with no TV
5. Obsessed with Barbados - I'll get there one day!
6. Backpacks are my natural enemy, even if that picture doesn't show it
7. I love movies, especially with RiffTrax involved
8. I'm quiet, but only because I choose to be
9. I tend to have talent in the musical instrument category, but have lacked the dedication to practice
10. Love my family and my friends
11. I am weird
12. Naps are my way of starting a "new day"
13.If I could, I would build and create tons of awesome things out of wood/metal/creative material.
14. I prefer manual transmissions any day over an automatic
15. Many, many stupid things have been deemed "Ok" by my conscience
